Issue Position: Jobs

Issue Position

To simply say that "I'm for jobs" is not enough. There must be an air of confidence based on facts in the business community to encourage re-investment and the economy must be stable enough to encourage the American consumer to spend. The federal government cannot create jobs. The federal government can only take taxpayer money and pretend it is creating jobs. Knowing this, one can see why the Obama stimulus failed to take hold and boost the economy.

With the federal government still spending like crazy and with the threat of higher taxes looming over its head, the business community had no choice but see this as a lack of commitment on the part of the federal government. The federal government needs to get out of the micro-managing business and let the free market work. It is what made the economy grow before and it will allow it to grow again. Some of the things that are needed to create a stimulating business atmosphere are:

1) The reduction or elimination of prohibitive regulations that put American businesses at a disadvantage when competing on the world market.

2) The reduction in the size of government by 10% and require Congress to balance the budget every year.

3) Encouragement and support for business investment, to include the reduction of business taxes and fair access to low-interest loans for all businesses that will create jobs in America.

4) Encourage trade policies that promotes trade with countries that will trade with the United States on an even playing field

5) Allow the free market to work and no longer pick winner and losers

All of the above together will help create a business environment that will allow the economy to grow and in turn create jobs.
